OCD: The Invisible Cage | Varun Koduri | TEDxHeritage HS Youth
In this presentation, Varun Koduri reaches into the realm of which millions of people struggle with across the world that being OCD. He recounts past social media trends, personal experiences, and even journeying through the neurology behind the cyclical obsession-compulsion behavior. He looks to help provide a stage where other children, teens and adults can speak out about their experiences and help remove the stigma around such a condition. He wants to tear down all the walls surrounding each individual and help connect one another on a grounded level. Varun is a sophomore at Frisco Heritage High School. With the empowerment of TEDx, Varun hopes to inspire a new generation of speakers who may be just as reserved and shy as he once was. The topic of his speech is OCD (Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder), a condition that impacts around 70 million people across the word. Being part of this number himself, living with the condition, he felt it important to share his own experiences. Varun hopes to provide support and understanding to any people living and struggling with OCD that his speech may reach. He is passionate about computer science and medical science. He loves to code new programs and discover new possibilities with programming. He also loves to learn about anatomy and physiology, and the mysteries of the human body. After High School, he plans to pursue a career in biomedical engineering, to help develop and construct medical technologies. Maria Paula is a psychologist. - 14:58Empathy is not what you think — and that’s the problem | Maria Alejandra Espinosa | TEDxTES YouthEmpathy is often seen as something soft, emotional, even optional, a nice-to-have in a world ruled by logic and efficiency. But what if we’ve misunderstood its real power? Empathy, when redefined, can become a driving force behind meaningful, lasting change. It should not only be seen as a feeling, but as a tool for questioning, understanding, and rebuilding the systems around us. Maria Alejandra is a 10th Grade TES student. A veces, revela. Lucia Caceres is an 8th Grade TES student. Jhon is a systems engineer who will be talking about how it feels to live on the autism spectrum. - 14:58Why your purpose goes beyond you | Juan Sebastian Poveda | TEDxTES YouthSome ideas remind us that personal growth is never just personal. That the fire that drives us, when nurtured with honesty and persistence, can lead to something greater—something that extends quietly beyond our own ambitions. In a world that often pushes us to chase success for its own sake, we forget that real purpose doesn’t need to be loud or heroic. It simply asks to be true. Our combined passions naturally propel us forward when we pursue our purpose with clarity and consistency — revealing that staying true to it might be the most generous gift we can offer the world.
