For Grandma: My Dream to Heal | Mia Zhou | TEDxYouth@YCYWShanghai

When Mia was four, her grandma got sick and flew to the stars. She asked her mum, “Why do we get sick? Is it because our cells forget to do their homework?” Mia had many questions every day. She would draw hospitals with rainbows and pretend to be a doctor, giving treatment to her teddy bears. Now she is nine, and she reads non-fiction books about human bodies, DNA, and genes. She studies her teddy bear’s bones. Maybe one day, when she fixes enough teddy bears, her grandmother will come back. Maybe one day, when she becomes a doctor, she will save more lives. Mia a primary-aged girl studying in Beijing, China. She loves to paint pictures and make crafts. Her brush and hands are like magic tools, creating wonderful things. Mia enjoys reading non-fiction books and learning new things about the world. Challenging Maths problems are like fun puzzles for her to solve, and when she plays the piano and composes songs, the notes jump and dance, bringing her so much joy. She is always excited to learn and explore! This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community.
