Settling for mediocrity: A commentary on wasted potential | Jeffany Jiang | TEDxWestern Canada HS

Having spent the majority of her life chasing academic validation, Jeffany is no stranger to sacrifices made "for the greater good." However, the nagging feeling of wasting your own potential, and limiting yourself to mediocrity - that is a feeling that she has realized only grows with time. In her TEDx talk, Jeffany will be exploring how and why we come to regret our decisions in life, and how to avoid such regret from infiltrating our view of self. Jeffany Jiang is a 17-year-old high school graduate from Sir Winston Churchill High School. Throughout high school, she has completed the IB Diploma Programme, and served on the executive team of four clubs and organizations - most notably as president and vice president for three of these. Jeffany is an avid reader, a caffeine addict, and a music enthusiast. She is also an experienced public speaker, having participated in debate competitions for three years. Jeffany will be attending the University of Toronto in the fall, to study Life Sciences. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
