A Century-Old Letter: Will You Break the Seal? | Ivy | TEDxYuehai St Studio
This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. - 6:54The Invisible Power Shaping Our Spaces | Maysoon AlKhuraissat | TEDxDabouqIn this powerful and personal TEDx talk, architect and sustainability expert Maysoon Al-Khuraissat takes us on a journey through sunlight, its invisible yet transformative power in shaping how we live, heal, and thrive. From malls where daylight increases sales, to hospitals and classrooms where it accelerates recovery and improves learning. This talk highlights how natural light is not a luxury, but a human need.Maysoon shares lessons from growing up in sunlit Amman and studying in cloudy Chicago, revealing how our built environments often neglect this essential element. She dives into traditional architectural wisdom and modern tools, like daylight simulation, smart glazing, and responsive facades to show how we can design healthier, more energy-efficient spaces by putting the sun at the heart of every plan.Because true sustainability doesn’t start with high-tech solutions, it starts with how we place a window. Maysoon Al-Khuraissat is a sustainable architect, educator, and green building advisor with over 20 years of international experience in the built environment. She holds a Master’s degree in Architecture and has dedicated her career to advancing sustainability through both practice and education. In addition to her consultancy work, Maysoon is deeply involved in architectural education.
