Emma Batty talks about the inherently feminist act of coral restoration and the breaking of gender stigmas in her journey of becoming a divemaster. Emma Batty is a passionate marine conservationist and youth leader committed to protecting Indonesia's oceans. A certified PADI Divemaster and winner of the 2023 #whycoexist competition, she has collaborated with leading organizations like Ocean Culture Life and Coral Gardeners on coral restoration and underwater research. With backing from National Geographic and the Ocean Culture Life storytelling grant, Emma is pioneering projects focused on coral reef acoustics. Her work proves that the next generation has the power to lead the way in ocean conservation.
