Un viaggio attraverso le culture del mondo — dalla Papua Nuova Guinea al Giappone — per esplorare il significato simbolico e sociale delle maschere. Un confronto tra tradizioni antiche e società post-moderna, dove le maschere non sono più solo oggetti rituali, ma diventano espressioni di disagio psichico, adattamento sociale e identità frammentate. Un invito a riflettere su ciò che mostriamo agli altri, su ciò che nascondiamo e su ciò che, forse, non conosciamo nemmeno di noi stessi. Giovanni Martinotti, nato a Roma il 14 Ottobre 1976, è uno medico chirurgo specialista in psichiatria. È professore ordinario di Psichiatria presso l’Università “G.d’Annunzio” di Chieti, e docente di psichiatria presso l’Università LUMSA di Roma, l’International University Unicamillus di Roma, e la University of Hertfordshire nel Regno Unito.
Nel 2023 è stato considerato dalla Stanford University e da Elsevier tra i Top 2% scientists del mondo nel suo ambito di ricerca. È autore e coautore di più di 300 articoli scientifici su riviste con Impact Factor, di una monografia e di 4 libri
È citato e riconosciuto dall’Institute for Scientific Information (ISI) e dal database SCOPUS, con un Hirsh-Index di 60. È editor di molte riviste, tra cui Comprehensive Psychiatry e Current Neuropharmacology.
La sua ricerca universitaria si concentra principalmente sul trattamento farmacologico dell’addiction, la depressione resistente, le tecniche di stimolazione cerebrale, le nuove sostanze psicoattive e gli psichedelici.
