- 4:58Reimagining Infrastructure of Care | Dr Rishab & Dr Samiksha Arora | TEDxBasant NagarWhen we speak of big cities, we highlight skyscrapers and metro lines. But in smaller cities like Amritsar, progress is often narrated only through cultural history—never the future. In this inspiring talk, Dr. Rishabh Arora and Dr. Samiksha Arora, Directors of EMC Hospitals, Amritsar, challenge that imbalance. They argue that true development is not just about bridges and flyovers but also about building invisible infrastructure—the infrastructure of care. They introduce the idea of a Women’s Body Index (WBI) as a new way of measuring progress—through maternal health, menstrual dignity, postpartum recovery, mental well-being, and preventive screenings. Drawing from their experience of designing a hospital as a prototype for a city of care, they show how multidisciplinary, empathetic healthcare can transform families, workplaces, and cities.Their vision is bold yet deeply human: a future where no woman travels miles for safe childbirth, no mother hides postpartum depression, and no girl misses school for lack of menstrual care. Because when women thrive, entire ecosystems thrive. This talk reimagines Amritsar—and every city—not just as a space of history, but as a city of sanctuary and healing for women, families, and generations to come. Today, we are honored to introduce Dr. Rishab Arora and Dr. Samiksha Arora, visionary leaders reimagining healthcare in Amritsar with innovation, empathy, and excellence. Dr. Rishab, a first-generation doctor with an MBBS from MM Medical College and FCCS certification from the USA, combines clinical expertise with compassionate leadership. Under his guidance, EMC Group of Hospitals has expanded access to world-class, patient-focused care. Dr. Samiksha, a dynamic young director, has contributed to India’s national AI initiatives and now drives EMC’s technological transformation, ensuring care that is precise, personalized, and deeply human. Together, they have built more than hospitals—they have created systems that heal with trust, respect, and integrity. Their vision bridges advanced medical science with heartfelt service, reminding us that true healthcare innovation is about people, not just machines. Please join us in welcoming Dr. Rishab and Dr. Samiksha Arora. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community.
