Redefining Education: From Rote to Relevant | Devansh Adhana | TEDxBDSIS Youth

The talk focuses on shifting from “learning by heart” to “learning for life,” preparing students for real-world success. It highlights a powerful triangle of Parenting, Books, and Pedagogy working together in education. This approach shows that learning goes beyond classrooms and exams, shaping how students think, grow, and apply knowledge in life. I am Devansh Adhana, a 15 year old student in Class 9 at BDS International School. As a student navigating the current school system, I have seen firsthand how rote memorization often replaces actual learning. My passion lies in figuring out how we can make education more "relevant" to our lives. I believe that by focusing on the relationship between parenting, the books we choose, and the way we are taught (pedagogy), we can change the student experience from stressful to truly meaningful. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
