Hong Kong's Second Mothers | Khloe Lam, Donald Hung & Nok Hei Nicolas Woo | TEDxYouth@YCYWShanghai

Hong Kong’s 330,000 migrant domestic workers are the backbone of their families and Hong Kong's economy. They often endure abuse, exploitation, and discrimination, facing inhumane conditions—overworked, underpaid, and stripped of dignity. More specifically, pregnant workers are often dismissed, leaving themselves and their children vulnerable. Pathfinders intervenes by providing crisis support, essential supplies, and advocacy to ensure fair treatment and a safe future for these mothers and their children. Their involvement stems from one of Pathfinder's objectives: systemic change—aiming to reshape perceptions and strive for an inclusive society for all. Khloe is part of the Hong Kong Pathfinder's team at her school. The nascent team has contributed HKD $12,000 in funds to support their mission: "All children deserve a fair start in life" and "all mothers matter". Khloe has connections with Migrant Domestic Workers (MDWs), feeling compassionate and eager to guide and empower all women. Khloe Lam also serves as student council representative and the school hockey team captain. Her commitment to excellence has been recognised with the Outstanding Student Award. With a deep passion for photography and psychology, Khloe actively explores compassionate systems and their impact on the education sector.Donald is part of the Hong Kong Pathfinder's team at his school.
