- 9:36When AI remembers - Fueling the next intelligence revolution | Aditi Garg | TEDxBostonThis talk explores an overlooked dimension of today's AI conversation: the difference between intelligence and memory. Through the lens of a decades-long friendship, the talk illuminates AI's missing piece: the ability to maintain long-term context.AI, Big Data, Data, Emotions, Engineering, Innovation, Machine Learning, Memory, TechnologyWhile today's AI can analyze complex papers and compose symphonies, it starts fresh with every conversation, like having a brilliant colleague with amnesia. The speaker, who works at the intersection of AI and high-performance storage systems, exposes a fascinating paradox: our machines can think faster than ever, but they're held back by their inability to remember efficiently. The next leap in AI isn't about faster processing—it's about fundamentally rethinking how AI systems maintain and access their persistent memories or storage. This requires a shift in how we architect AI systems, bringing storage and processing closer together in ways that mirror human cognition. The result reshapes how AI systems maintain context across conversations, projects, and time—moving beyond today's powerful but forgetful systems toward ones that can learn and adapt from long-term experience. For anyone curious about AI's future, this talk reveals the infrastructure bottleneck we must solve to unlock the next wave of artificial intelligence. Aditi Garg leads development of the world’s fastest cloud storage solution at Amazon Web Services, powering AI workloads for thousands of global enterprises. A Columbia University graduate and former co-founder of Virimodo, a Techstars-funded AI platform, she has witnessed firsthand how storage bottlenecks can make or break the most ambitious AI projects. From her unique vantage point at the intersection of cutting-edge AI and enterprise infrastructure, Aditi has developed insights into the fundamental limitations holding back artificial intelligence—and the breakthroughs needed to overcome them.” This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. - 6:22What if we used video games to run experiments? | Mike Ambinder | TEDxBostonVideo Games create virtual environments, provide feedback, dynamically alter a generated experience, respond to player inputs, provide access to measured player behavior, and offer desirable goals to motivate players. These qualities are often used solely in pursuit of entertainment, but maybe it is time to broaden their focus (and their utility). This talk covers the potential of adaptive gameplay (driven by advances in statistics, machine learning, and AI) to foster prosocial behavioral outcomes outside of games. What if games could do more than just entertain? What if they could teach, simulate, provide therapeutic benefit, perform research, or aid skill development? They can still entertain while all of this occurs, but perhaps we can shape them to do just a little bit more...Cognitive science, Entertainment, Innovation, Machine Learning, Research, Video Games Mike spent 15 years at Valve leading research efforts in applied psychology and game design, data science and machine learning, user research, non-invasive Brain-Computer Interfaces, and economic systems design among other things. He currently leads research efforts at August Interactive hoping to use gameplay to generate some positive change in the world. - 10:18The Real Driver of Innovation Isn’t AI—It’s Inclusion | Noelle Russell | TEDxBoston"We talk about AI like it’s a magic wand that will transform everything. But what if the most powerful force for innovation isn’t artificial intelligence—it’s inclusive leadership? In this visionary TEDxBoston Talk, Noelle Russell, award-winning technologist and AI ethicist, challenges our assumptions about what drives innovation in the AI era. Drawing from her book and personal journey, she uses a powerful metaphor—a “baby tiger”—to explore how unchecked AI can grow into something dangerous without human values guiding it.Through compelling stories and frontline insights from tech, Noelle reveals how diverse voices, equity-centered design, and inclusive teams aren’t just moral imperatives—they’re strategic requirements. Because when we build AI without everyone in mind, we build systems that harm. She ends with a call to conscience, quoting Hamilton:“History has its eyes on you.”The future is watching. The question is—will we build it together?"AI, Business, Education, Ethics, Innovation, Leadership, Social Entrepreneurship, Technology, Women, Women in business, Responsible AI, Trustworthy AI "Noelle Russell is a multi-award-winning speaker, author, and AI Executive who specializes in transforming businesses through strategic AI adoption.
