The secret society of volunteerism | Namuun Batdorj | TEDxTIU
Volunteering is a huge part of her identity. Growing up in a family dedicated to service, it always felt almost natural to her. But the first time she truly recalls choosing to volunteer on her own was in sixth grade, when she decided to run for class president. Something shifted in her then, and that spark only grew stronger over time. That moment of stepping up to serve others opened many doors and led to meaningful personal growth and connections. To her, there is something genuinely honorable in witnessing people use their personhood in service of causes greater than themselves. She believes deeply that many young people can benefit from volunteerism, because the only real resources they need are time and a willingness to work together. Namuun Batdorj is a second-year International Relations student at Tokyo International University with a passion for exploring new experiences. Raised in a family rooted in service, volunteering has always been a core part of who she is. Her journey began in sixth grade when she ran for class president, a moment that sparked a lifelong passion for community and connection.
