All the dampeners in the world are nothing but false alarms | Hanwen ZHENG | TEDxFuxingPark
Zheng Hanwen illustrated several ways of being a wet blanket and not being one through a few stories: a mother on the verge of death, in the final stage of cancer, still requested aesthetic medical modifications to dress up for her son's wedding; why we shouldn't open our husband's bag to avoid letting out Schrödinger's cat; why she only takes a suit of worn-out old clothes when returning to her hometown. When we say to fate, "I choose," we are expanding the breadth of the script of our own lives. ZHENG Hanwen has led Parkway in its global expansion, establishing 9 high-end chain institutions and 1 haute couture aesthetics art center, with its business reaching 43 major cities in China.
As a pioneer in haute couture aesthetics, she was the first to introduce the concept of "private beauty customization" into China, which was later upgraded to "minimalist haute couture aesthetics". Under her leadership, Parkway has achieved remarkable results in the business field: it became the only medical aesthetics brand included in The Yearbook of the People's Republic of China (2014 Volume), successfully listed on the National Equities Exchange and Quotations, won awards such as "Most Competitive Model Brand" and "Most Valuable Investment Brand", and was rated as Shanghai's Annual Private Enterprise Headquarters.
Meanwhile, she is a firm advocate of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and a charity ambassador. With the mission of "creating beauty and spreading love", she established the "Parkway Beautiful Angel Special Fund" under the Shanghai Charity Foundation, dedicated to helping children and women.
She also enjoys an international reputation. She once served as the co-chair of the Better World Foundation at the 77th Cannes Film Festival and was awarded the "Most Beautiful Dedication Award". She has been successively reported by journals such as Marie Claire, L'officiel Monaco and Le Figaro, showcasing Oriental charm and female power to the world.
As a director of the Chinese Association of Plastics and Aesthetics, she provides valuable suggestions for the development of the industry. She initiated the "Extraordinary Women Plan" and has millions of followers on social networking platforms. Her achievements and influence lie not only in the innovation of the industry but also in the interpretation and transmission of beauty and love. - 18:25Why leadership training fails | Jim Koetting | TEDxSwanseaLeadership training is a billion-dollar industry, yet organizations are filled with frustrated leaders and disengaged teams. Why? Because most leadership training creates more tension and resentment than growth. Jim Koetting is a leadership advisor, mentor, and consultant who challenges how we think about leadership development. Having built businesses and mentored leaders who raised millions and saved billions, he faced a hard truth: most leadership training doesn’t work—it creates tension and resentment. It fails to address the real issues holding leaders back. With 40 years as a musician, Jim sees leadership like mastering an instrument—you can’t learn it in a weekend seminar. Authentic leadership is practiced daily, forged through adversity, and grounded in self-awareness. He draws on his journey—losing everything at 50, rebuilding from nothing, and 35 years of sobriety—to reveal the hidden struggles today’s leaders face: distraction, addiction, and mental fitness. Through storytelling and hard-won wisdom, Jim helps leaders see what’s missing—and how to finally get it right. His mission? To liberate leaders from illusion and transform the way they lead. - 6:14Artivism: The Power of Art in Activism | Vien Valencia | TEDxAteneodeManilaUVien Valencia explores artivism—the powerful intersection of art and activism—as a tool for connection, remembrance, and resistance. Drawing from personal experiences of displacement and a lifelong search for belonging, Vien shares the story of how art became a space to question systems, preserve memory, and spark collective action.Through the Tinipak River Archive, Vien works alongside the Dumagat Remontado community, whose ancestral lands are threatened by the construction of the Kaliwa Dam. More than an artistic initiative, this project documents material and emotional histories of the river, transforming art into a vessel for advocacy and solidarity. Vien’s talk invites the audience to reflect on how creativity can be used to confront injustice, amplify marginalized voices, and build new paths forward, especially at pivotal turning points in society. At the heart of Vien's message is a simple, urgent truth: the right to space is the right to dignity. And through art, we find the courage to protect that right for ourselves and for others. Vien Valencia centers his practice on the act of recording spaces, conditions, and situations that resist documentation. His work explores how people shape their spaces and how spaces, in turn, shape them. He has immersed himself in local communities, creating drawings, photographs, and materials that reject traditional methods of archiving. In 2023, Valencia received the Ateneo Art Award, followed by the Cultural Center of the Philippines Thirteen Artists Award in 2024.
