The Universal Language: How Music Connects Strangers | Omar Altayi | TEDxDonauinsel

Music doesn’t just entertain - it connects.Omar Altayi explores how making music together builds empathy and trust between strangers - and why that matters now more than ever. What began as a childhood dream sparked by a film score evolved into a lifelong journey: from a tiny bedroom keyboard to creating shared rhythms in public spaces. Omar Altayi is the director of DoReMi, a social music school in Vienna. He uses music as a tool for inclusion and empowerment, creating spaces where people from all walks of life can connect, express themselves, and grow beyond cultural or social boundaries. In 2023, he was named Austrian of the Year for his social impact through music. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community.
