Investing in our planet's future | Carla Guerriero | TEDxUNINA Federico II

What if economics could be our strongest weapon against climate change? In this talk, economist Carla Guerriero shows how pricing pollution, reshaping markets, and changing incentives can drive real solutions. From energy to industry to food, she explains how the right economic choices today can secure a livable planet for tomorrow. Carla is an Associate Professor of Public Economics at the University of Naples Federico II. Her research explores the intersections between the environment—particularly climate change—health, and economics. Carla’s research specializes in health economics and the interdisciplinary study of environmental health interventions. Her book project focuses on the methodology for conducting cost-benefit analyses of such interventions, integrating insights from economics, public health, and environmental science. Her work explores the economic incentives for addressing environmental degradation and climate change, with a particular emphasis on their impacts on human health. Carla also investigates the dynamics of patient mobility and healthcare quality, with a focus on the Italian healthcare system. Her most recent ongoing research examines the promotion of sustainable and healthy diets for children and the economic implications of fast fashion. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
