(Re)discovering my country through a walk | Ashutosh Joshi | TEDxSNS YOUTH

What if a walk could help you reconnect with yourself and your socio-political world? Ashutosh Joshi takes us along on his walk from the western coast to the eastern coast of India. Ashutosh is a writer, photographer, and grassroots visionary rooted in Narvan, a coastal village on Maharashtra’s western edge. After honing his craft in England, Ashutosh returned to India to understand his country. He set out on foot—first walking 1,800 kilometers from the Arabian Sea to the Bay of Bengal, and later 900 kilometers from Mumbai to Goa—seeking to understand the soul of his country beyond headlines and hashtags. Today, he lives and works in his village, collaborating with local communities to imagine and implement sustainable models of rural development. His work challenges the myth that opportunity only lives in cities. Ashutosh’s vision is clear: to reverse the tide of urban migration by creating dignified livelihoods in the very villages people are leaving behind. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
