Reimagining medicine with AI | Kimon Vogt & Antonia Vogt | TEDxNTUA
Health and artificial intelligence. Are they as unrelated as everyone believes, or is there a connecting link? Antonia and Kimon Vogt, an outstanding surgeon and a prominent health innovator, both from premier universities respectively, explain how the interaction between two different scientific "worlds" is creating a new scientific field and paving the way for countless new studies and innovations. Kimon Vogt is the CEO and co-founder of Sporo Health. He holds a Master’s degree in Artificial Intelligence and Data Science from the John A. Paulson School of Engineering and Applied Sciences at Harvard University. Kimon has taught Deep Learning (AC209) and Computational Systems Science (AC207) at Harvard and was also a research fellow at Carnegie Mellon University, where he developed and patented AI algorithms in the healthcare sector. During his internship at Fidelity Investments and his collaboration with Microsoft, he led projects focused on the development of artificial intelligence algorithms.Antonia Vogt is a pioneering scientist who has been featured at the top of the Forbes 30 Under 30 list. She is currently pursuing a PhD in Surgery at the University of Cambridge, focusing on regenerative medicine and stem cell research. As an Onassis Foundation scholar, she leads groundbreaking research on stem cell regeneration through bioinformatics. She is the founder and president of both the Cambridge Robotic Surgery Society and the Cambridge Neurological Society. Antonia has received numerous prestigious awards, including the Hypatia Award, distinctions from EMBO, ISMND, the Cambridge Stem Cell Institute, as well as multiple research awards from the University of Cambridge.As a single mother since the age of 17, she is a passionate advocate for inclusion and support of student-parents. Jessica Matyssek steht kurz vor dem Abschluss ihres Medizinstudiums an der Universität Oldenburg. Zuvor sammelte sie Erfahrungen in der Pflege und absolvierte eine Ausbildung zur medizinischen Fachangestellten. Heute bringt sie ihr umfangreiches medizinisches Wissen in die Lehre ein und hat sich auf die Entwicklung praxisnaher Lehrkonzepte spezialisiert. Zudem bildet sie Trainer*innen in Erster Hilfe und Notfallmedizin aus.Ein Auslandspraktikum in der Kasoa Polyclinic in Ghana war für sie ein Wendepunkt. Die dort erlebten Herausforderungen weckten in ihr den Wunsch, aktiv zur Verbesserung medizinischer Infrastrukturen beizutragen. Aus diesem Grund gründete sie den Verein Akwaaba e. V., der sich seither für medizinische Bildung, Prävention und partnerschaftlichen Aufbau engagiert.Ihr Herzensthema ist nachhaltige Entwicklungszusammenarbeit – sie steht für partizipative, transparente und verantwortungsvolle Ansätze in globalen Projekten.
