From community health and maternal care to entrepreneurship, teaching, and mentorship; his story is one of resilience, reinvention, and refusing to settle. It’s a powerful reminder that growth doesn’t always follow a straight line, and that the dream in your heart is still valid even when the path to it changes.Dr. Olorunfemi Akinbode Ogundele is a physician, Associate Professor, and Child Health Epidemiologist at UNIMED, Ondo. He also serves as Chief Consultant at UNIMED Teaching Hospital, Acting Director of Academic Planning, and Coordinator of the Ford Foundation-supported SPARKLE Project.He earned his MB.ChB and MPH from OAU, where he also completed his residency and became a Fellow of the West African College of Physicians. He has received further training in vaccinology (South Korea) and public health evaluation.His work focuses on child health, vaccine-preventable diseases, and immunization strategies in low-resource settings. He co-developed Nigeria’s first National Youth Index and actively mentors emerging health professionals.
