When Silence Wept with Joy | Ashwag AlGahtani | TEDxRiyadh

In “When Silence Wept with Joy,” I open the door to a journey where science meets humanity. As a specialist in speech and hearing, I’ve witnessed the life-changing moment when a child hears for the very first time and the way that moment reshapes both their world and mine. This talk is not only about medicine or devices, but about the power of volunteering, compassion, and using our skills to serve others. It’s a reminder that the knowledge we hold is a trust, and when we give it away, silence turns into joy, and service turns into purpose. Ashwaq Al-Qahtani, Director of the Auditory-Verbal Rehabilitation Department at King Abdullah Ear Specialist Center, King Saud University Medical City. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Speech and Hearing Sciences from Kent State University, United States. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
