What if changing the world started with a simple question: Why not me? Yelyzaveta Leshchenko shares how one small act of courage sparked a journey from laser experiments on plants to space research. Her talk is a reminder that you don’t need to be a genius to make an impact—you just need to start. Yelyzaveta Leshchenko is an engineering student and space technologies researcher passionate about solving real-world and off-world challenges. She led the award-winning LASPA project on laser stimulation and plant growth- crucial for sustainability and future space missions. As a two-time president of the Photonics Engineering Club and leader of SPIE and Optica chapters, she connects young engineers globally. She received the “New Technologies for Women Ukraine” scholarship and the “Stypendium pod choinkę” for promoting STEM. As an ambassador of the Faculty of Mechatronics and participant in the LeaderSHEp in Tech Academy, she’s shaping a more inclusive, visionary future in engineering.
