The Reparenting Revolution | Dr. Ashwini Govinda | TEDxSt Pauls College

Ashwini Govinda unpacks the concept of reparenting, the practice of nurturing our inner child, healing from past wounds, and transforming the way we show up as parents, partners, and individuals. Drawing from her clinical expertise and years of research, Dr. Ashwini explains how unresolved childhood trauma often shapes parenting styles, creating patterns that silently pass from one generation to the next. Dr. Ashwini Govinda is a trauma-informed psychologist, researcher, and Assistant Professor of Psychology based in Bengaluru, whose work bridges clinical insight, academic rigor, and creative storytelling. With a specialization in adult psychotherapy for survivors of complex childhood trauma, her practice is rooted in culturally sensitive, emotionally attuned interventions. Her groundbreaking doctoral research at CHRIST University led to the development of trauma-informed parenting modules for unwed individuals with childhood trauma, blending trauma theory, positive psychology, and emotional processing. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
