TSENG, YUN BIN | TEDxMingdao HS Youth
Homeschooling — officially known as applying for Individual Experimental Education — is rare. With so few of us compared to the crowds in traditional schools, homeschoolers often seem mysterious and easy to label. I was homeschooled through elementary school, then joined a private junior high later on. At first, I learned alongside my mom, figuring out how to self-study while trying hard to shake off those labels. Then, when I stepped into my dream private school, my dad helped me redefine what being “a homeschooler” could mean. This is the story of me and my label — how we fought, made peace, and now walk forward together. Homeschooling isn’t just a system, it’s a skill; a label isn’t only a stigma, it can be a badge. What I hope listeners take away is this: we all carry labels, but we can choose whether they confine us or become a badge that pushes us forward.
From kindergarten through sixth grade, I was homeschooled, attending a few classes each week at my local elementary school. It wasn’t until my first year of junior high that I began a full-time school life within the formal education system. Now, as a second-year student, I’m working hard to adapt — transitioning from self-directed learning to structured schooling. In the past, I spun on my own axis; now, I’m learning to orbit in harmony with others. - 15:03AI is Reshaping Social Habits | Onur Korucu | TEDxDublin SalonAI is not just transforming business or technology, it’s reshaping our social habits, relationships, and mindsets. As we stand on the edge of this new era, we have both the responsibility and opportunity to consciously shape AI to serve humanity, foster inclusion, and preserve what makes us human.Onur explored this from her different lenses; as an Engineer & Business Leader she examined AI’s transformative potential, where data science fuels a ‘butterfly effect’; small innovations today shaping the intelligent systems of tomorrow. As a Tech Lawyer she delved into the legal, cultural, and ethical complexities of AI, and how trust must be built across diverse frameworks, just as one learns and adapts while traveling through different cultures. And as a Woman and Member of Society Onur reflected on how AI mirrors our humanity, our biases, our creativity, our capacity for equality. For the first time, we face an intelligence beyond gender, language, or origin. How we guide it will define the inclusivity and ethics of the future we create. Onur Korucu is a Non-Executive Director, Managing Partner, and Advisory Board Member operating across EMEA and the US, specialising in AI governance, cybersecurity, and data protection.
