Recovering Identity Through Fashion | Amaia Isabel Ravago | TEDxMeadows School

Amaia Isabel Ravago shares the ups and downs of her individual and social identity journey through the lens of fashion. Her story becomes increasingly relevant in a world where the self-worth girls and young women is subject to the whims of stylistic trends and their rapidly changing portrayals in social media. Amaia was originally born in Las Vegas, but has moved around between the Philippines and Singapore and other cities in the US, including San Francisco, California and Portland, Oregon. Amaia is currently a Junior in high school, hoping to attend a 4-year university on the East Coast majoring in International Relations with a concentration on Policy and minoring in Political Science. She loves being active, playing volleyball on the school team, and enjoys pilates and workout classes in her free time. Some of her other interests include going to concerts with friends, taking photos, and hanging out with friends and family. Also, traveling has been extremely influential in Amaia's life, as she have traveled across the globe many times over the years, which has allowed her to understand different cultures and help her connect with individuals of numerous backgrounds. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
