| Junki Kondo | TEDxAkitaIntlU
Junki Kondo shares his journey from growing up in a small fishing village in Kitakyushu, striving to succeed in Tokyo, and eventually rediscovering meaning and purpose in the rural community of Higashinaruse, Akita. Drawing parallels between role-playing games and life, he emphasizes that fulfillment comes not from possessions or location, but from the “roles” we play for others. Through founding Narutech and engaging in projects that revitalize the village—from digital transformation to local product development—he illustrates how rural areas provide the “empty spaces” where unique roles can emerge. His talk proposes that starting one’s odyssey in a small village may be the key to finding happiness, meaning, and a truly irreplaceable role in life.

- 12:43Will AI augment human intelligence — or undermine it? | Debbie Botha | TEDxAURAK• Central question: Debbie Botha talks about the emerging technologies (like AI and automation) which can either enhance or diminish human intelligence and capacity? • Augmenting side: Debbie highlights examples where tech acts as a "superpower"—providing tools that empower humans to make smarter decisions, unlock creativity, and scale problem-solving. • Undermining risks: She cautions that overreliance on tech can erode critical thinking, deepen biases, and weaken skills if humans become passive users rather than active collaborators. • Call to action: Debbie urges designing systems that amplify human judgment, build awareness of algorithmic influence, and retain human oversight, ensuring technology uplifts rather than replaces. As an Industry Council Member of the Digital Data Design Institute at Harvard, Debbie provides guidance on the potential business impact of the research coming out of D^3, especially in AI.Debbie has worked as an executive, consultant, and architect for 25 years in the data, analytics, and AI field, including the last 8 years at IBM.
