閱讀如何改變你的人生? How Reading Can Change Your Life | 宋怡慧 Sung yi hui | TEDxRenai Road
It all began with two dollars her mother saved per day—enough to buy her very first encyclopedia. For Sung Yi-hui, that book was more than a gift; it was her first true conversation with the world. Through it, she discovered that reading is not merely a path to knowledge, but the starting point of transformation. In this talk, Sung shares how daily reading—even just one minute a day—can change a life. She reveals how such small acts can accumulate into great change, enough to finish Bill Gates’s “Desert Island Reading List” within a year. More importantly, she explores how reading broadens our perspective, deepens empathy, and teaches us the art of generosity.Through touching real-life stories, she illustrates how students have healed from loss through books, and how people around her rediscovered beauty in life through the power of words. For Sung, reading is more than a habit—it is a generous act of sharing, a ripple of change that extends from one heart to many. • Director of the Library, New Taipei Municipal Danfeng High School

- 20:42Break..Build..Become | Lakshmi Priyaa TT | TEDxSJIMThe speaker’s talk is a deeply personal story of transformation, resilience, and purpose. She recounts her journey from a chess champion to a corporate professional and finally an entrepreneur in Ayurveda. Using chess as a metaphor for life, she highlights how every phase, even pauses and setbacks, can become opportunities for reinvention. A career break once seen as a weakness became her strength, leading her to rediscover purpose and found a brand born from empathy and a vision to make Ayurveda globally relevant. Through her story, she shares four truths: start before you’re ready, treat reinvention as a daily decision, embrace discomfort for growth, and become your authentic self. Comparing life to a chessboard, she concludes that while everyone has the same pieces, true transformation lies in how boldly we choose to play our next move With a background rooted in human resources, corporate strategy, and a personal commitment to wellness, she brings a unique blend of people-centered leadership and strategic insight. Lessons learned in HR and as both a chess player and coach have sharpened her focus on resilience, adaptability, and foresight. Today, as the founder of LIFE PURIFIED, she's channeling these experiences into building an Ayurvedic personal care brand that’s all about authenticity, well-being, and lasting impact. Each step, whether in corporate settings or on the chessboard, has deepened her vision for creating something meaningful This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. - 21:50How I Failed My Way Forward | Mathew Isac | TEDxSJIMExplores how setbacks and uncertainties can catalyze personal and professional growth when met with courage, curiosity, and continuous learning. Isac emphasizes that success is rarely linear, it’s shaped by how one responds to rejection, change, and loss. He advocates embracing failure as feedback and disruption as an invitation to evolve beyond comfort zones. Central to his message is the idea that one’s starting point doesn’t define their potential; instead, commitment, work ethic, and purpose do. Reinvention, he suggests, is not a one-time event but a lifelong process of growth and self-discovery. Isac urges individuals to “build their brand before they start working,” nurture excellence daily, and measure success through impact rather than mere metrics. He encourages young adults to believe in their dreams, professionals to view setbacks as new beginnings, and leaders to prioritize resilience and curiosity over perfection. His closing call — “Be Extraordinary!” — reinforces that ordinary people become extraordinary by consistently adding “extra” focus, integrity, and purpose to everything they do Mathew has 33+ years of diverse industry expertise spanning Finance, Operations, Customer Services. Unique combination of managing business & coaching experience. Cross-functional expertise in Operations Excellence, Value-Added Services & managing large global teams. An entrepreneur for 15+ years, he has worked with 300+ clients & 3000+ coaching hours. His belief: a meaningful life is built on balance across 4 verticals: Personal. Professional. Social. Spiritual. His purpose: IMPACT - empowering organisations, professionals to scale & achieve sustainable growth. - 15:42Adopting. A new Way. | Gayatri Abraham | TEDxSJIMOne can “reinvent the status quo” in adoption by shifting the narrative from charity or obligation to empathy and equality. Historically, adoption was shaped by social, political, or practical motives—rarely centered on the child’s welfare. Over time, perceptions have evolved, yet biases persist, often portraying adoption as a noble act or a solution to infertility rather than as a legitimate way to build families. Reinvention calls for a mindset grounded in openness, inclusion, and acceptance—where language and attitudes reflect respect and normalcy. By making adoption child-centric, society can move beyond outdated notions of pity or pride and focus on belonging and love. Embracing this transformation means redefining adoption as not “giving” or “taking” a child, but joining lives through empathy and shared humanity—a true reinvention of the status quo. Gayatri Abraham completed her M.Sc. in Family Therapy and Counselling, and specialised courses such as Basic Skills in Counselling, Couple and Family Counselling, and Child and Adolescent Therapy. Gayatri Abraham is passionate about adoption and runs an NGO in the adoption space. The NGO supports and helps couples and individuals navigate through the adoption journey – from dealing with infertility and loss, to preparing them to make an informed decision on adoption as an alternative route to expanding families. She is an avid reader and nature/wildlife buff. For her, self- healing begins when one is attuned to nature within and outside of oneself. Željka Klemenčić u posljednje dvije godine održava Ženski brunch - malena druženja za "40 plus" žene na kojima žene razgovaraju, razmjenjuju iskustva, smiju se i plaču, a usput i nešto nauče i fino grickaju.
