From Air-Con Courts to Barefoot Grit: Redefining "Enough" | Yi Lin | TEDxKCISLK Youth

We often take simple comforts for granted. This speech shares poignant tales from a basketball camp in Northern Thailand, revealing how adversity shapes resilience and why truly seeing the world around us is the first step towards meaningful contribution. As a senior at KCISLK with strong academic achievements, Yi was not always the disciplined and motivated student he is today. The younger him was more relaxed, often turning in late work or even missing assignments altogether. It was not until his sophomore year that he became more responsible and driven to become a better version of himself. Grateful for the opportunities he has had, he felt a strong desire to give back to the community. Since then, he has been involved in extensive community service: helping underprivileged children in rural Taiwan, mentoring developmentally disabled children, collaborating with disabled musicians in charity concerts and projects, and volunteering internationally in northern Thailand. Witnessing the adversities people face around the world, he sees it as his mission to encourage more people to join the fight. Only together, can we build a better world. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
