No One Opened The Door; So We Became The Door | Samarth Gill | TEDxArdenwood Youth
Samarth Gill shares how his passion for service, science, and community led him to create VoluntHero—a platform connecting students with meaningful volunteer opportunities across California. From being a temple volunteer to interning at NASA, his journey reflects how diverse experiences can empower rejected voices and strengthen communities. In this talk, he inspires young changemakers to build, lead, and uplift others through purpose-driven action. I am Samarth Gill, an aspiring aerospace engineer, student researcher, and the founder of VoluntHero, a non-profit focused on providing a platform to connect students with meaningful service opportunities across California. I'm a curious builder, community mentor, and lifelong learner. Being able to gain experiences from all walks of life, from volunteering at my temple to interning at NASA, I've been able to deliver these opportunities to once-rejected volunteers and provide a platform that not only helps them embolster their communities but also make a positive impact outside of the classroom. If you want to have a great conversation with me, let's talk about F1, futbol, Minecraft, or Aerospace! - 16:14Pick Up the Phone, Your Body is Calling | Maya Carl | TEDxClarkstownNOTE FROM TED: While some viewers may find this helpful as a complementary approach, please do not look to this talk as a substitute for medical advice. This talk only represents the speaker's personal views and understanding of diet, lifestyle, and health. TEDx events are independently organized by volunteers. The guidelines we give TEDx organizers are described in more detail here: http://storage.ted.com/tedx/manuals/tedx_content_guidelines.pdfIn this compelling talk, the speaker draws a powerful metaphor between how we intuitively respond to loved ones' voices and how we should learn to listen to our own bodies in the same way. Our bodies are constantly “calling” us through sensations, symptoms, and feelings, yet we often ignore these messages like spam calls. The speaker shares a personal journey of finally “picking up the call” after years of depression, disordered eating, and chronic discomfort. That moment of deep listening and honest dialogue with the body became a turning point, leading to healing, improved mental and physical health, and a career as a holistic health coach. She explains how quality of life is deeply linked to how we treat and understand our bodies, especially through the twin pillars of food and movement. With over 40% of the world struggling with digestive issues and rising mental health challenges, learning how to eat and move in ways that feel good and aligned is essential. The talk emphasizes experimentation, mindfulness in eating, joyful movement, and gradual habit-building as ways to reconnect with the body and elevate well-being. Ultimately, the message is clear: by building a stronger relationship with your body, you enhance not only your personal quality of life, but also your ability to contribute positively to the world around you.Maya Carl is a certified Holistic Health Coach and has maintained a private practice, Earth Body Coaching, for 8 years. Maya is also a certified Pilates Instructor and Yoga Teacher. She has a passion for empowering people and supporting them in living their healthiest, most aligned lives. She focuses on helping people change their approach to food, their bodies, movement, stress and daily habits. By supporting and potentiating these changes, she creates safe space, accountability and support so that her clients can access, manifest and maintain their ultimate health and wellness goals. After helping hundreds of people through her workshops, one on one sessions, and group & corporate coaching, she is eager to share her message with the world. Maya feels that her true purpose is to help people reconnect with their bodies through conscious dietary, movement and lifestyle practices so that they can then help to heal themselves, each other, and the planet.
