Kate Doerge is a non-profit founder, philanthropist, speaker, and brand strategist. Kate is the co-founder and CEO of Penny's Flight Foundation, a 501(c)(3) charity organization dedicated to raising awareness and funding for neurofibromatosis (NF). The Foundation was launched in honor of her daughter Penny. To date, Penny’s Flight has reached over 20 million people, launched and funded scientific research projects, and raised over $5 million dollars. There are almost 100 Penny’s Flight chapters at high schools and colleges across the country.Kate is the Co-Chair of the Board of Advisors for the Hospital for Special Surgery, the country’s top ranked hospital for orthopedics and rheumatology. She sits on the Board of Trustees and the HSS Pediatric Council. For the past 16 years, Kate has Co-Chaired HSS’s largest and most successful fundraiser for the Pediatric Pavilion, raising more than $27 million to date. Sofia Vea is a senior day student from Seaside, and it is her fourth year at Catalina. When not in class, she can be found after school in the PAC rehearsing for school shows, singing with ecco!, or performing onstage. She is part of Senate, organizing the Grazing Patch; is a co-head of Granny Club; and has been a co-head of ecco! for two years. Izzy Toole speaks about her non profit Books For Africa, an organization that has supplied thousands of books to Africa. All run by high school students. Izzy Toole is a Santa Catalina junior who grew up in Dallas, Texas. She started her own club, Books For Africa, which has successfully raised over $10,000 and 3,000 books to support schools in Malawi, Uganda, and Kenya. Izzy will share her unique experience and exposure to educational inequity in the modern world, and how it impacts our future as a generation.
