Çocukken yazdığı bir defterde “Mimarlığın disiplinini kazanıp, moda alanında çalışan biri olacağım” demişti. Bugün bu hayalini yaşıyor. Mimarlığın ifade gücünü moda dünyasına taşıyarak sürdürülebilirlik ve yaratıcılığı buluşturuyor. Onun hikâyesi, sınırlı imkânlarda dahi disiplin, çalışkanlık ve hayal gücüyle nelerin mümkün olabileceğini gösteriyor. Kendi sözleriyle: “İçinde doğduğumuz her neyse, hiçbirisi bizim sahip olduğumuz tek şey değil. Bağlamlar bizi geriye çeker, kimliklere hapseder. Oysa özgürlük, hiçbir bağlama ait olmadan, bir flaneur gibi kaybolabilmekte saklıdır. Ve en güzel yarınlar, bu kayboluşlarda gizlidir çünkü bizi hiç düşünmediğimiz ihtimallere götürür.” Gaye İspekter, ilkokul mezunu bir ailenin çocuğu olarak sahil kasabasında büyüdü. Profesyonel voleybol kariyeri ve İzmir Kız Lisesi’ni kazanmasıyla 13 yaşında evinden ayrıldı. On yıl boyunca devlet yurtlarında, sabahları sınıflarda ders çalışarak İstanbul Teknik Üniversitesi Mimarlık Fakültesi’ni kazandı. Üniversitede Lead21 Fellow olarak geleceğin lider adayı 21 öğrencisinden biri seçildi. Sıfır bütçeyle başlattığı ŞansVer projesiyle öğrenciler arasında sürdürülebilir kıyafet takası sistemini kurdu. Arjantin’de yalnızca yedi kişinin kabul edildiği uluslararası moda projesinde Türkiye’yi temsil etti. Kariyerinde Road Global ile Amerika pazarına açılan moda markalarıyla çalıştı; ardından Hermès’te görev aldı. 24 yaşında Pentomé Studio’yu kurdu ve mimari tasarımını üstlendiği stüdyo, büyük bir yatırımla hayata geçti. Bugün markalar için mekân ve vitrin tasarımı, koleksiyon danışmanlığı ve prodüksiyon çalışmaları yürütüyor; Amerika’da ise SLN Tekstil’in marka operasyonlarını yönetiyor.
