What If an AI Could Understand You Better Than You Can? | Salma Dias Saraswati | TEDxUNDIP

This talk explores how our minds run on invisible algorithms patterns of thought and emotion shaped by past experiences and asks what might happen if artificial intelligence could help us see them clearly. It invites the audience to imagine a world where technology becomes a mirror, revealing the hidden patterns that drive our reactions, anxieties, and self-perception. By combining AI tools with honest self-inquiry, the talk challenges us to question whether we really know ourselves and to consider how understanding our mental algorithms could set us free to live with more awareness, courage, and authenticity. Salma is a psychologist and the CEO of Tenang AI, a mental health startup focusing on Generation Z in Southeast Asia. Formerly a psychology lecturer, she transitioned into entrepreneurship to address the lack of accessible and preventive mental health support. Through Tenang AI, she developed an empathetic AI companion to support emotional well-being. Her work has empowered thousands of young people to seek help earlier, reduce stigma, and build healthier mental habits. She has participated in international accelerator programs and was named LinkedIn Top Voice 2023 in technology and mental health. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
