The guidelines we give TEDx organizers are described in more detail here: http://storage.ted.com/tedx/manuals/tedx_content_guidelines.pdfCan science and faith finally agree on our purpose? In this eye-opening TEDx talk, cruise ship physician and cardiology specialist Dr. Muhammad Ammad Faisal takes you from the violent seas of Antarctica to the deepest questions of the universe. Blending cosmology, philosophy, and the groundbreaking science of epigenetics, he reveals how your thoughts, emotions, and choices can literally rewrite your DNA — bridging the gap between fate and free will.Discover why you are not a prisoner of your genes, your past, or your circumstances — and how every choice you make today can change your future at the molecular level. Dr. Muhammad Ammad Faisal, a cruise ship physician, provides emergency care to thousands while travelling across Alaska’s fjords, South America’s coasts, Australia’s Great Barrier Reef, Antarctica, the Caribbean, and ports worldwide. Born in Sahiwal, Pakistan, he earned his MBBS from Punjab Medical College and trained in medicine and cardiology at Faisalabad Institute of Cardiology. He served two years in underdeveloped areas, bringing care to resource-limited communities, before continuing his practice in the USA. Beyond medicine, he pursues science, philosophy, and the biggest questions of existence — from the origin of the universe to the nature of consciousness. His current focus is on developing a unified philosophical and scientific framework — a “unified theory”—reconciling scientific understanding with meaning and purpose. Through genetics and epigenetics, he explores how biology shapes us while choices and environment mold our destiny. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
