A tale of two Sophia's: thinking the unthinkable | Maria Pisani | TEDxUniversityofMalta

Can we rethink what it means to be human in an era of ecological crisis and technological transformation? Do we need new concepts to understand ourselves as a species in the world we share? Prof. Maria Pisani challenges us to explore how humans, the planet, and technology can coexist ethically, fostering collective and non-exploitative ways of living. She begins with a tale of two Sophias... Maria Pisani is an Associate Professor and Head of Department for the Department of Youth, Community and Migration Studies with the Faculty for Social Wellbeing. A Youth Worker by profession, Maria's academic work and activism has concentrated on forced migration, inclusion and belonging, with a focus on youth, gender, legal status and other intersectionalities. Maria's work is driven by the pursuit of social, economic, political and environmental justice. She's trying to make sense of a rapidly changing world, whilst being committed to bearing witness, holding onto hope and finding reasons to smile. Maria's work is unapologetically political. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
