The Power of Your Second Skin | Prarthana Sabharwal | TEDxMMPS Bagh Youth

Every morning, the clothes you choose do more than just cover your body—they tell a story about your identity, emotions, and future self by shaping how you feel, think, and show up in the world. Drawing from personal stories and psychological research, this talk reveals how your “second skin” acts as a powerful conversation with your brain, grounding you in confidence, calming your stress, and uncovering hidden influences from your past and present. Just as individuals experience a gap between their true self and outward expression, brands too struggle with bridging the divide between their core identity and how they are perceived; this talk explores how both can close that gap through mindful, authentic choices. This is not about following fleeting fashion trends—it’s about reclaiming your personal power and building an extraordinary future through intentional and genuine self-expression. Prarthana Sabharwal is India’s first Fashion Psychologist and the director of Styleguru Image Research. With a background in psychology and fashion, she helps individuals and brands understand the powerful link between clothing, identity, and behavior. Her work spans personal clients, luxury labels, and corporate consulting, where she explores how fashion influences confidence, decision-making, and brand perception. As a brand consultant, she guides companies in shaping authentic identities rooted in psychology, creativity, and research. Through her unique lens, Prarthana empowers people to see fashion not just as style, but as a reflection of self and a tool for transformation. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
