Cosmic webs and flows on Earth and within us | Dr Mark Neyrinck | TEDxBoulder

The cosmos is a tremendous source of awe. We tend to think of it as immutable and disconnected from us. But it's not; its timesales are just longer than human. There are systems we can experience on Earth and within our bodies that are close analogies to the largest flow network in the universe, called the cosmic web. Dr. Mark Neyrinck of the Blue Marble Space Institute of Science takes us on a tour of branching flows on Earth, from trees, to river networks, to blood and breath within our bodies. A view across systems lets us better appreciate and understand each of them, culminating in the cosmos itself. Mark is a cosmologist who enjoys radically multidisciplinary scientific research and art. He has held research positions in several university departments in the US and Europe, after his PhD at CU-Boulder. He is now back in Colorado, an affiliate research scientist at the Blue Marble Space Institute of Science. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
