Why we look away from India's civic decay | TEJAS JOSHI | TEDxAVBIL Youth

In this TEDx talk, high school student Tejas Joshi explores why people ignore the rampant civic decay in India and how psychological phenomena, such as the bystander effect, rationalisation, and normalisation shape our attitudes toward public spaces. Through thought provoking examples, he challenges the “chalta hai” mindset and asks citizens to start thinking towards a change. He emphasizes that real change begins not with policies or slogans, but with small, consistent actions by ordinary people. He has a strong academic focus, with a particular interest in psychology. Outside of his studies, Tejas is actively involved in a variety of activities, including music, writing, and sports. His passion for learning inspires him to pursue challenges with enthusiasm and determination. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
