You’re so sensitive! Thank you. | Phoebe Fan | TEDxYouth@YCYWShanghai

"You’re so sensitive! Thank you" challenges the misconception that sensitivity is a weakness. Drawing from personal experience as a Highly Sensitive Person (HSP), the speaker explores how sensitivity fosters empathy, creativity, and a heightened awareness of life’s nuances. The talk encourages both HSPs and others to redefine sensitivity as a strength—something to be grateful for and proud of. Phoebe Fan is a student studying in Shanghai, China. She is a relatively introverted person that channels her thoughts and feelings through public speaking and writing. She has been doing public speaking, since nine as means of getting out of her comfort zone, and this is her third TEDx talk. Areas that she is passionate about are mental health, food, literature, travel, New York City, and movies. As a sensitive person, she is often criticised for this controversial trait but slowly, she began to realise that sensitivity is not a weakness but rather a hidden source of strength that she longs to share with others. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
