Digital Resurrection | Ginka Hristova | TEDxPlovdiv

Imagine scrolling online and seeing a new movie starring Marilyn Monroe — in 2025. Or a political ad where John F. Kennedy delivers a modern-day speech. Artificial intelligence no longer just predicts the future — it resurrects the past. This talk explores the rise of “digital resurrection” — the use of AI to recreate the voices, faces, and personalities of those who are no longer with us. From reimagined art to revived performances, the possibilities are fascinating — and deeply unsettling. Ginka Hristova is a lawyer, researcher, and advocate at the forefront of the intersection between artificial intelligence and law. With more than 15 years of legal experience, she has dedicated her career to making digital law and data privacy accessible and understandable. A graduate of Harvard’s online programs in Internet and Society, Copyright, and Data Privacy, Ginka went on to pursue a PhD in Data Privacy and AI, shaping national and European discussions on ethical AI and digital rights. As co-founder of the International Legal Advice Center (ILAC), she empowers individuals and businesses to navigate the complex world of technology and regulation. Ginka has also served in working groups with Bulgaria’s Ministry of E-Governance and contributed to the EU’s ethical code on AI. Her passion lies in balancing innovation with regulation, ensuring that progress in technology never comes at the expense of human rights. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
