The sound of bricks: A city in collision | Yinuo Bai | TEDxMyddelton College Jinhua Youth

When the juggernaut of modern civilization rolls over historic streets, how can we preserve fragments of cultural heritage in this collision? We take Shanghai's Tianzifang and Beijing's hutongs as examples, showing that through creative renovation and rational government planning, history and modernity can merge, with collisions breeding hope for the city's future. My name is Bai Yinuo. I’m 16 years old and from Jinhua, Zhejiang Province, China. As an explorer deeply engaged in urban cultural research, I’ve traveled to numerous cities. Witnessing the surging tide of urbanization, I often wonder: how can we safeguard the memories and souls of our cities? Driven by this confusion and a strong sense of mission, I embarked on a long journey of research. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
