Stoyan Mihov unveils the story of the sturgeons, the Danube’s prehistoric guardians, and the urgent fight to protect them from extinction. Long walks in nature and observation of wild animals - that’s how many imagine the romantic life of an ecologist. But for Stoyan Mihov, the reality looks different: early mornings and long hours at the computer, sifting through piles of documents required for project planning and approval. Fieldwork is rare, and results often take a couple of decades or more to show. Yet Stoyan is lucky to call his passion his job. He's been dedicated to nature conservation since the age of 16 and he holds a degree in ecology. Born in Aytos, he moved to Belene in 2003 for a wetland restoration project and has lived there ever since — on the Danube, where mosquitoes are bigger than sparrows and local fishermen know the river better than any scientist. Since 2008, he’s been part of the WWF Bulgaria team, now leading the “Waters” program focused on protecting and restoring sturgeon populations in the Danube River and the Black Sea. The lecture is mainly about an experience of mine with a friend, I want to share my main idea of two people with vast experience can still become friends and by sharing these experiences, I wish people can perceive one another without bias, treating each other as equals, appreciating our unique qualities, and embracing our differences with open arms. In “A Comforting Dilemma,” Aditi Gangwar explores the paradox of comfort. The talk is meant to exemplify how the very thing that soothes and protects us can also quietly hold us back. Through vivid storytelling and psychological insight, she contrasts the safety of familiarity with the growth that lies just beyond it. From a haunting forest metaphor to personal memories of learning to ride a bike, Aditi reminds us that stepping outside our comfort zone isn’t about rejecting comfort altogether, but about recognizing when it’s time to let go of it. Her speech invites the audience to rethink fear, risk, and resilience, and to keep moving forward, even when comfort calls them back. I’m Aditi Gangwar, a DP1 student at Mahindra International School with a love for stories that go beyond the obvious. Whether I’m writing poetry, crafting fiction, or speaking on stage, I’m drawn to the moments that make people pause and think. A reflection of this interest can be seen through my first published book, Through the Mind’s Eyes. It brought together words and art to explore the complexity of human emotion. La dottoressa Olga Armento, cyberpsicologa, formatrice, divulgatrice e autrice di “Impara a conoscerti”, ci ha portato nel mondo nascosto sottoterra, dove le radici si incontrano, si sostengono ed evolvono. In un viaggio che parte da Taranto – la città in cui è nata – e arriva fino alla psico-sostenibilità nell’era digitale, Olga ci accompagna alla scoperta delle “radici umane”, quelle connessioni invisibili che ci legano profondamente gli uni agli altri, che ci nutrono e ci fanno crescere in modo dinamico e libero. Attraverso metafore, neuroscienze e diverse riflessioni sulla nostra identità, la dottoressa Armento ci invita a riscoprire il valore dell’inclusione come forma di intelligenza evolutiva, ricordandoci che “l’adattamento è una forma di coraggio” e che anche nel mondo virtuale dobbiamo restare radicati nel reale.“Le radici non devono trattenere. Le radici sono scelte, sono libertà, sono il coraggio di crescere ovunque ci troviamo, con chi vogliamo e come vogliamo. Noi siamo radice.”Un invito potente a non dimenticare da dove veniamo, ma anche a creare radici nuove con autenticità, orizzontali, connesse e vive, capaci di sostenere il futuro che insieme stiamo costruendo. Olga Armento, psicologa specializzata in cyber-psicologia e attualmente in formazione in psicoterapia strategica integrata, è formatrice, consulente e divulgatrice impegnata nel promuovere il benessere di individui, gruppi e organizzazioni. Nicola San Marco - regista e artista dell’animazione - ci accompagna in un viaggio tra sogni, cinema e memoria familiare. Attraverso il ricordo del nonno pescatore e la passione per i cartoni animati, racconta come le radici possano diventare la forza creativa che alimenta l’immaginazione. Un invito a credere che anche ciò che sembra impossibile può prendere vita, se impariamo a disegnarlo prima nella nostra mente. Nicola Sammarco, regista, story artist e autore di fumetti, ha iniziato la sua carriera con Disney Company Italia illustrando la graphic novel Alla Ricerca di Dory per Pixar. Ha poi collaborato come story artist con realtà internazionali come Universal Studios, Skydance, Google e Aardman, lavorando a produzioni di rilievo tra cui Klaus, The Inventor e David. Nel 2019 ha fondato a Taranto Nasse Animation Studio, prima società benefit italiana di produzione cinematografica, con cui ha realizzato Nicopò, la prima serie animata al mondo interamente green. Oggi guida produzioni per Rai Kids e sviluppa progetti per il mercato europeo e asiatico.
