Circumbinary Planets: Beauty and Uncertainty in Two-Sun Dance | Helena Buschermöhle | TEDxBlumenau

Circumbinary planets are elusive worlds that orbit two stars instead of one. Their orbits follow the complex and unsolvable “three-body problem,” making them hard to detect and study. This talk reveals the unexpected beauty hidden within the uncertainty of these orbital dances. Originally from Blumenau and currently living in Boston, she is a theoretical astrophysics researcher at Tufts University, where she studies the orbital evolution of circumbinary exoplanets. She graduated with honors in Mechanical Engineering and Astrophysics from Tufts, has worked at the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics, and has collaborated with NASA.A Fundação Estudar fellow, she also teaches astrophysics to children and connects Brazilian students with high-impact opportunities. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
