Becoming a fan of people | Dr. Kevin Dyson | TEDxOldHickory
Imagine if we celebrated people’s identities the way we celebrate our favorite sports teams - not because they’re perfect, but because they’re ours. We wear the jerseys, learn the stats, defend them when they’re down, and cheer the loudest when they rise. In this TEDxOldHickory talk, Dr. Kevin Dyson explore this question..... What if we extended that same unwavering support to the people around us - not trying to change who they are, but seeing them, knowing them, and loving them fully for it? Kevin Dyson, the 16th pick of the 1998 NFL Draft by the Tennessee Oilers, now Titans, also played for the Carolina Panthers, is currently the principal at Centennial High School in Franklin, Tennessee. Dr. Dyson is most famously known for the "Music City Miracle"; and "One Yard Short", two of the most famous plays in NFL history. Primarily raised by a single mother, he credits his upbringing for shaping him, as he promised his mother he'd play in the NBA and buy her a house, but she emphasized education. Dr. Dyson holds two master's degrees and a doctorate in Educational Leadership from Trevecca Nazarene University. He is a published author, hosts a podcast, serves as a radio analyst for the Tennessee Titans, and is a keynote speaker. Dr. Dyson believes true success lies in inspiring growth and navigating challenges, and the foundation for his leadership philosophy is based on the ability to LEAD with GRIT.
