From Stadiums to Summits | Ahana Raman | TEDxTheOrchidSchool

Timings, pace, schedules. This is what fuels young athletes who rise before dawn, train until exhaustion, and chase victories with relentless focus. For Ahana, this world of competitive sport was all she knew, an arena where discipline masked self-doubt, and running became a way to escape the questions and uncertainties within. Then came the mountains, where none of those rules applied. No stopwatch. No crowd. No finish line. Only silence, solitude, and the uncertainty of every step.In her talk, Ahana takes us through this striking contrast, where the structure and intensity of the field collided with the unpredictability of nature. It was here she discovered that resilience isn’t just about pushing harder, but about embracing vulnerability, stillness, and growth in unfamiliar spaces. Her talk is a story of transformation, of how chaos and quiet together can redefine strength, success, and what it truly means to move forward. Ahana Raman is a 17-year-old national-level footballer and state swimmer whose journey extends beyond the field into the high mountains. Having completed multiple high-altitude treks, such as the Kashmir Great Lakes and Goechala, she has experienced how both sports and the outdoors cultivate resilience, leadership, and self-reflection. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
