Grief is outlined by five stages; denial, anger, bargaining, depression, and finally acceptance. In this talk, I will be addressing how to navigate loss with art through the lens of my personal experience. My name is Ryan and I am a senior at Brandeis majoring in Studio Art. As an artist and aspiring art teacher, I have built my life around storytelling through visual imagery. This is most clearly demonstrated in my honors thesis which delves into a variety of topics, but most notably is my experience with grief. Through TEDx, I hope to offer a unique and alternative way of sharing my story—one that not only expresses my journey but also creates a meaningful connection with others who have experienced grief or found solace in art. Her team developed domestically produced thrombolytic drugs, ending reliance on expensive imports, and combined them with AI imaging systems to cut treatment times from 120 minutes to just 20, extending the treatment window from 4.5 hours to 24. For Liu, victory in medicine is never a finish line—it is the courage to leave the comfort zone, to move from saving one life to transforming an entire field, and to keep going where the road runs long.
