The Power of Split Second Decisions | Jehan Daruvala | TEDxDAIS Youth
Jehan Daruvala shares his inspiring life story of rising from karting in Mumbai to competing globally, breaking barriers as the first Indian to win a Formula 2 race, driven by passion, perseverance, and a dream to represent India on the world motorsport stage. His journey highlights early struggles, relentless training, and balancing education with racing to emerge as a role model for aspiring racers. Jehan’s motorsport journey began in Mumbai when he first climbed into a kart as a child. While most kids were still learning to cycle, Jehan was already racing competitively, setting the stage for a career that’s taken him across the world. He has competed in Formula 2, with 4 wins and 18 podiums, and now makes his mark in Formula E with Maserati. He has also tested Formula 1 cars with McLaren, racing against some of the best in the sport. But Jehan’s story is about more than just statistics; it is about grit, calm, and balance. Despite the high-stakes world of racing, he values humility and simplicity, often saying his favorite holiday is just “going home.” A competitor at heart yet grounded in personality, Jehan embodies a blend of relentless ambition and joy in small things. His journey is as much about character as it is about speed, making him an inspiring figure both on and off the track. Rithwik Krishna is an 11th grader who advocates that you don’t have to fit into just one box to excel. - 11:37Lessons for a new generation in a new world | Sanchay Gupta | TEDxGIIS DubaiMy exploration of the modern 'Pandemic of Validation Craving' serves to reflect our generation's relentless obsession with trends, brands and social media approval and how it has trapped us in a cycle of comparison and 'Doomshopping.' It critiques how society prioritizes looks and links respect to possessions, showing how even phones can shape our social interactions. Finally, it highlights practical spending and self-awareness strategies like identifying the trigger for your Impulse spending and FOMO and switching back to cash to make most purchases, and suggests embracing individuality to build true self-worth. I am an inquisitive 15-year-old coming from GEN-Z, interested in everything about science, satellites and the human mind. My speech focuses on my observations about people and ongoing trends, specifically on the rise of over-obsession/craze, show-off culture and how it affects the different stakeholders in society. Moreover, I will also discuss about how setbacks are a strategic advantage towards living a more meaningful life.
