How to make a choice when the options suck | Amitai Shenhav | TEDxNewEngland

We value our choices, but making them can be overwhelming. Whether it's choosing where to eat or how to vote, decision-making can become particularly challenging when we like all our options—or none of them. By understanding how the brain makes decisions, we can alter our approach to decision-making and make choosing less stressful.Amitai is an associate professor in the department of psychology at UC Berkeley. He researches the computational and neural mechanisms at the intersection between decision-making and cognitive control, focusing on how people weigh the costs and benefits of engaging in cognitively demanding tasks. Amitai is an Associate Editor for Affective Science, and his research is supported by NIH and NSF.This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community.
