Silencing the Noise: The Art of Focus | Hüsnü Alper | TEDxYaşamTasarımSchools
Today, our attention is constantly under attack. Phones, notifications, and social media make it harder than ever to stay focused. The problem isn’t within us, but around us. Focus means giving your full attention to one thing, and it can be trained. By putting the phone aside, creating a simple workspace, and practicing short periods of deep work, we can start to rebuild it. We don’t need to reject technology, but we must take control of how we use it. In a world full of noise and distraction, the real power lies in being able to think clearly and focus deeply. Hüsnü Alper is a dedicated and multi-talented 10th-grade student with a passion for innovation, collaboration, and the arts. As a key member of the mechanical team in the VEX Robotics Competition held in Turkey, he has demonstrated strong problem-solving skills and a keen interest in engineering. His global outlook was further enriched through his participation in a student exchange program between Türkiye and Latvia, where he engaged in cross-cultural dialogue and academic exchange.Beyond academics, Hüsnü is an active contributor to his school community. He is a committed athlete on the school’s basketball team and a proud member of the school marching band, balancing both intellectual and creative pursuits. His diverse experiences reflect a well-rounded individual driven by curiosity, discipline, and a desire to make a meaningful impact. - 2:45Can We Stop Animal Testing Through Technology? | Kira Isabella Wong Chiu | TEDxYouth@YCYWShanghaiIn this talk, the speaker explores the ethical dilemma of animal testing in scientific research. Despite its historical significance, many animals suffer in experiments that could be replaced by innovative technologies. She discusses cutting-edge alternatives such as computer simulations, organ-on-a-chip models, and 3D Printing techniques that can provide accurate results without harming animals. By fostering empathy and pushing for technological advancements, we can advocate for a future where animal testing is no longer necessary. Join us to discover how we can drive change and promote humane practices in research through innovation. Kira is a primary student in Guangzhou, China. Kira has a passion for singing and a deep love for animals. She enjoys sharing stories and engaging in conversations about topics that matter to her. Throughout her life, Kira has rescued several rabbits and birds, reflecting her compassionate nature and dedication to helping animals in need. - 5:07A New Way of Living | Tianrui (Olav) Hong | TEDxYouth@YCYWShanghaiThe speaker was inspired to create an affordable, AI-integrated, lightweight exoskeleton. After researching flaws in existing designs, they assembled a prototype using existing parts and developed an AI app for progress tracking. Challenges included back strain from passive force and limited data for precise feedback. The project taught them about innovation and rehabilitation, proving that real-world problems can be solved with determination. Tianrui is a student studying in Shanghai, China. He is interested in the field of engineering and shows passion in building things. Tianrui enjoys watching videos of creators creating amazing works or explaining major discoveries of Earths underlying logics. He has built a tree house at his previous residence and loves lego, this has fostered his creativity and ability to think and execute ideas.
