Identity: Cropped, Edited, Posted | Julia Basek | TEDxYouth@2SLO
IN MY SPEECH, I WILL EXPLORE IDENTITY AND SOCIAL MEDIA. WE OFTEN OVERLOOK HOW INAUTHENTIC SOCIAL MEDIA CAN BE. THE ABILITY TO CREATE A DIGITAL IDENTITY FROM SCRATCH LETS US SHAPE OUR OWN ALTER EGO. BUT WHY DO WE SO OFTEN USE IT IN HARMFUL WAYS? THAT'S THE QUESTION I AIM TO ANSWER. MY NAME IS JULIA, AND I AM A FIRST-YEAR DIPLOMA PROGRAMME STUDENT AT 2SLO IB. ACADEMICALLY, I AM INTERESTED IN PSYCHOLOGY AND LINGUISTICS, WHICH I HOPE TO STUDY IN THE FUTURE. IN MY SPARE TIME, I AM AN AVID MUSICAL THEATRE ENTHUSIAST WHO ALSO PLAYS THE PIANO AND ABSOLUTELY LOVES TRAVELLING. - 7:47Between Maybes and Silence | Adyasha Mohapatra | TEDxYouth@ApeejaySchoolLife is full of unspoken words and moments of hesitation. This thought-provoking talk reflects on how finding courage in the spaces between “maybe” and silence can lead to life-changing choices. Adyasha Mohapatra, a class IX student, combines her creativity with curiosity. Passionate about poetry and music, she uses different forms of expression to understand herself and the world around her. As an active participant in MUNs, she enjoys engaging in dialogue, presenting perspectives, and thinking critically about issues that matter. Known for her empathy, adaptability, and quiet confidence, she strives to grow both as a student and as an individual who values creativity and compassion. Her TEDx topic, “A Mind Full of Maybes and the Words I Never Spoke,” reflects her belief that unspoken thoughts often carry the strongest echoes. Through her talk, she seeks to explore the weight of unsaid words, the courage it takes to voice them, and the freedom that follows when they are finally expressed.
