Before the beat lands | Sia Joshi | TEDxTheOrchidSchool

Beats have always been Sia's playground. As a dancer and creator, she lives in rhythm. She believed life, like creation, would always hand her the perfect moment to step in. Until the day it all went offbeat: She was asked to jump off a bridge. In that moment, everything she trusted about timing collapsed. And then she realized: that perfect beat will always come around, but creation doesn’t wait. Life doesn’t wait. You either step in, or you stay behind. So here’s the riddle: if the beat will always return, why do we wait for it? Sia lives with an open sketchbook, endlessly curious and endlessly creating. A lover of art in all its raw and refined forms, she collects stories the way some collect souvenirs: through paintings, conversations, and quiet observations. She finds her truest expression in classical dance, where discipline flows seamlessly into creativity. Insatiably curious, she wants to try and do everything at least once, believing each experience leaves behind a color worth keeping. She thrives where rules loosen just enough to let beauty breathe. For Sia, the best truths aren’t found in answers; they’re hiding in the space between certainty and chance.
