How motherhood almost broke me | Jahara Davis | TEDxParrish Street

This talk discusses exploring single motherhood and learning how to find space yourself while not seeing motherhood as a burden. Learning how to embrace being a single mom but understanding that it's not all you are. Jahara Davis is a passionate, award-winning educational leader whose career has been defined by service, innovation, and an unwavering commitment to student success. As the founding Vice Principal at Durham Early College of Health Sciences, Jahara brings a wealth of experience and a bold vision for building inclusive, equity-driven learning environments that prepare students for college and careers in the health sciences.Jahara’s leadership has been celebrated locally and nationally. She is a two-time Teacher of the Year, the 2023 Durham Public Schools Teacher of the Year, and was named a 2023 NCCU 40 Under 40 Award Recipient. Additional honors include CIAA’s Food Lion High School Educator of the Year, the Velle Cares Foundation Teacher of the Month (December 2022), and being featured in NCCU’s Collected Lady Eagle Oral History Project, which honors 43 Black women graduates with justice-based careers.
