What if every meal could change the world? | Andreas Viestad | TEDxFredrikstad

In this talk, food activist and storyteller Andreas Viestad reveals why culinary literacy — the knowledge of how to feed ourselves — is as essential as reading and writing, and how it can help combat the global pandemic of obesity and lifestyle-related disease. Discover how food connects us all, bite by bite. Andreas Viestad is a Norwegian food activist, author, restaurateur, and TV host known internationally for New Scandinavian Cooking, aired in over 50 countries since 2003. He founded the Geitmyra Culinary Center for Children, promoting food education across Norway. A self-taught cook with a background in history and media, Viestad has authored acclaimed books like Kitchen of Light and Dinner in Rome, exploring food’s cultural roots. He owns several Oslo restaurants and has consulted internationally. A columnist for major outlets, including The Washington Post, he has won multiple awards for his work in sustainable food and education. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
