From BeanFest to Breakthroughs:The Courage to Question | Mengran "Nancy" Xu | TEDxYouth@YCYWShanghai

A little bean game—called BeanFest—holds a powerful lesson about how our brains form stereotypes… and how we can break them? From a stubborn stereotype to a stagnant industry, the speaker encourages you to ask the daring question: “What’s the bean no one’s willing to try?” Then lean in and listen. Because the future isn’t built by those who have all the answers—it’s shaped by those brave enough to seek them in unexpected places. Dr. Mengran Xu earned her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Virginia and completed her Master’s and Ph.D. degrees in Psychology at The Ohio State University. Dr. Xu’s research focuses on consumer behavior and attitude change, with a primary emphasis on developing effective persuasion strategies based on the motivations and attributes of attitude formation. Her research findings have been published in top international academic journals in behavioral science and social psychology, including the Journal of Personality and Social Psychology, European Review of Social Psychology, Journal of Experimental Social Psychology, and Personality and Social Psychology Bulletin. Currently, Dr. Xu teaches core courses in Marketing Management, Consumer Behavior, Consumer Research, and Professional English to undergraduate, graduate, and MBA students at Fudan University. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
